WHAT IS THE NATIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM?

It is an early career program run by the Presidency Human Resources Office to enable our young talents to benefit from career opportunities provided by public institutions and private sector organizations within the framework of equal opportunities and in accordance with merit principles.

The program aims to increase the employability of young people, support equal opportunities in accessing career opportunities, and expand various early-career opportunities across all departments.

Students applying to the program are evaluated using a transparent, traceable, and innovative method based on their academic/professional, artistic/social, and athletic proficiency scores, taking into account their performance throughout their education, their efforts to improve their skills, and their achievements. Employers, on the other hand, send offers to students based solely on the scores they have achieved in the relevant competency areas, without viewing their personal or university information.

In addition to its success in Turkey, the Program, which is also widely acclaimed abroad and has been cited six times as a model practice by the OECD, offers many young people the opportunity to experience working life while still students and gain early career awareness.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THE NATIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM?

Internship: Professional work carried out by higher education students at an institution/company with the aim of developing their professional knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors, familiarizing themselves with the sector, and adapting to working life.

Job Shadowing: A short-term, observation-based learning process that enables higher education students to gain knowledge and experience about a profession and job.

Education: An educational process prepared and delivered by relevant institutions on specific topics to support the career development of higher education students.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Those who are under the age of 35 as of January 1, 2025 (born on or after January 1, 1990),

Those who are continuing their education at universities in Turkey, the TRNC, and abroad and have a grade point average* of at least 2 out of 4 (or equivalent in other systems);

  • Students in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of undergraduate programs offering formal education (excluding medicine, teaching, and dentistry departments),
  • Students in the 1st or 2nd year of associate degree programs offering formal education,
  • Turkish citizens or Blue Card holders continuing their master's/doctoral education at universities abroad.

*As the overall grade point averages have not yet been finalized, this requirement is not applicable to first-year associate degree students during the application period.

**At the time of the internship, second-year undergraduate and first-year associate degree students must have advanced to the next grade, fourth-year undergraduate and second-year associate degree students must not have graduated, and first-year associate degree students must have a grade point average above 2. Otherwise, employers may cancel their internship offers.
