An Orientation and Introductory Meeting Was Held for Students Admitted to Our University

In collaboration with the Directorate of Information Technology and the Distance Education
Application and Research Center (GUZEM), our center organized an online “Orientation and
Introductory” meeting for incoming students. During the two-day program, students were briefed on
our academic and administrative units.
The program began with speeches by our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Necdet Hayta, Prof. Dr. Hasan
Tezer, and Prof. Dr. Serhat Karyeyen. Prof. Dr. Necdet Hayta began his speech by providing
information about our university, noting that it is one of the leading universities not only in
scientific, cultural, and athletic activities but also in terms of social responsibility. Our Vice Rector
Prof. Dr. Hasan Tezer delivered an informational presentation to the students on the Quality
Assurance System and Accreditation. Our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Serhat Karyeyen, meanwhile, gave
an informational presentation titled “The Role of Students n Research and Development Processes”.
Emphasizing that Gazi University is a research university, Prof. Dr. Karyeyen noted that every
student is also a student-researcher. The Program continued with presentations by Prof. Dr. Selami
Candan, Coordinator of Social Affairs and Community Contribution, and Prof. Dr. Seyfullah
Yıldırım, Coordinator of the Education and Teaching Institution.
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the program continued with presentations by GUZEM
Director Prof. Dr. Mutlu Tahsin Üstündağ and KAPUM Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Günaydın,
Students also received information about international opportunities from Prof. Dr. Aslıhan Selcen
Bingöl, Coordinator of the International Relations Office. In the afternoon sessions, Dr. Mustafa
Akın Güngör, Director of the School of Foreign Languages; C. Metin Uygur, the Head of the
Student Affairs Office, Association. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Mavi, the Head of the Library and
Documentation Office, Lecturer Nur Uzun, and the Head od Information Technology Office, Assoc.
Prof. Dr. Zafer Ayaz, delivered their presentations.
Throughout the program, students had the opportunity to address questions to university
administrators regarding various aspects of university life. The online event facilitated incoming
students’ adaptation to university life.
